Tis the season...... to go to the mountains with the Jensens. Every year usually right after Thanksgiving we love to head up and smell the Christmas trees.
So, this year the Jensens chopped down their tree and we all explored with them through the mud and ice and found their "perfect" tree.
Of course we had to load up on our share of caramel apples and caramallows. This year I discovered that they actually sell JUST the caramel and oh....... was I in heaven =) How is it possible that I have been going there for 25+ years and never known that they sell only the caramel. I never eat the marshmallow in the caramallows and the apple is not my favorite part of the caramel apple (if you know what I mean). Its funny how I have never thought to ask if they sell just the caramel until now. Oh Well! I am a happy camper =)
The kids are such nature explorers that they love to walk through all the trees and apple orchards.

It was busy up on the main hill but it definitely didn't stop us from having fun.

On our way back down the mountain, we had to stop and bid farewell to one of our favorite spots... Camp Nauvoo (which is being sold). This is a place that I cannot go to without having a million memories flooding into my mind. From girls camp to ward campouts, to just going up for the day with the family to hangout, I love that place. I am sad that the traditions wont be there any longer but I am thankful for the wonderful memories I have (and pictures too) of this beautiful place.
Here is the stream that as a kid I would play in. There were always great rafts to stand on and knock others into the water on (accidentally, of course) =)
Here is the meadow where flag was held during girls camp. I have played so many different sports in this field that I can't remember them all. This is where I found a tick on me (I could do without that memory). This is where we would break off for Bishops night for girls camp and always have so much fun with our ward young women and Bishop.

Isn't this a great time of the year! I love all the apple hill pictures, I haven't been there for so long. but I still can taste their caramel! Yum! I'm so upset over Camp Nauvoo. I can't believe they are selling it. There's so many memories there. Will you email me these pictures? Just looking at them reminds me of hiking in as beehives and so much more.:)
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the pictures of camp Nauvoo, what a great place. When I was a young woman they would allow us to wash our hair in the stream, we had to use the "special" type of shampoo of course, but what a great time we had as we got an ultimate brain freeze cleaning our hair!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that you could buy just the caramel either! Oh the many things you learn reading a blog!! :)
