Last week the kids were out of school so we decided to take some fun day trips. On Monday- we headed up to Coloma to have a pic-nic which sounded like a great idea, except we picked a day that it decided to pour rain. Once we arrived, we decided it might be a good idea to keep our little pic-nic in our car. So after we ate- we braved the weather and walked around. We were the only people in site but still managed to learn a little about gold-mining. The kids liked going into the Indian Teepee (probably because they were protected from the rain) =) When we got back to our car Ellie said, "that was the worst trip EVER".... apparently she didn't like being drenched in water. Oh well, at least it will be a memorable trip =)

Then on Tuesday, we thought we would go somewhere that was indoors (to keep the kids dry).. so we drove to the Jelly Belly Factory. We took the tour and watched how they make all the different kinds of candy. Ellie and Scot loved to see the big factory and all the workers. We watch Unwrapped on The Food Network at home and often see different food factories and how they work- so this was pretty fun for them to experience it first hand. Macie loved that the workers waved to her (and the samples at the end were great, too). It rained the whole way there and back, so we were glad we were sheltered this trip =) This was a lot of fun and Ellie's comment about this trip was, "It was cool". So, better review this time!
