My sister and I took our kids to the lake yesterday.... but to our surprise- the water was extremely low. For some reason with all the rain we've had this year- I think we both expected it to be a little more full. Anyway-we treked about 1/2 a mile down to reach the water and let the kids loose. Macie and Eva had so much fun playing in the water. They actually played pretty nicely together which was a nice change. =) It was a pretty warm day- so all the kids cooled off nicely in the water. The funny event of the day was when my niece Haley and her friend swam out to the buoy's. They were out there for quite awhile and we just thought they were having fun. Well, about 45 minutes out there- Jody and I saw the lifeguard paddling out on his board. Next thing we saw- Haley and her friend were on top of the board and they were all paddling back to shore. After some investigation on Jody's part- we discovered that the girls had gotten "too tired" to swim back so they were out there yelling help. Apparently word had gotten back to the lifeguards that some girls needed help- so they came to their rescue. Jody and I laughed at this because if this is a sneak preview into teen years-- then Haley is right on her way.... getting the cute lifeguard to come rescue her. I must add that Haley is only 10... so my poor sister =) When I talked to Haley later about it she said, "I haven't been this embarrassed for a long time" (which I interpret as--- he was cute and my plan worked.. maybe I'll try that one again) =) It was a fun day at the pond!
